Trust Yash Raj Films to take making official announcements to the next level.
Aditya Chopra, Yash Raj’s head honcho, is a quiet man, with very rare public appearances. The last we heard, he was working on his next film titled Befikre and was compulsively searching for a suitable cast.
Chopra calls this film his “happiest, youngest and riskiest” one to date, and had been planning to make an announcement on the cast on Tuesday morning.
So here it is: Ranveer Singh will play the male lead in Befikre.
In a candid, emotional video uploaded on YRF’s youtube channel, Ranveer revealed this news, taking us all down memory lane.
The three minute video shot on the fourth floor of Yash Raj Films in Andheri, Mumbai, has Singh revealing that no less than five years ago he was at the same place, having been offered the biggest role of his life (his debut role in Band Baaja Baraat).
Sporting his Bajirao Mastani look, a nostalgic Ranveer tells us how, five years later, Aditya Chopra himself came out of his office to find Ranveer crying in happiness on being cast in Befikre, only to tell him, “Tu kar lega (you’ll do it)”

Indian politics, unfortunately, has quite an alarming number of leaders who are known for making ridiculous statements on sexual assaults and sexuality. Whether it’s Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav who claimed that rape by four people is not practical and possible or Janata Dal – United (JD-U) president Sharad Yadav who had said, “Who amongst us has not followed girls?”, some politicians have ensured that their statements consistently inspire facepalms.
Keeping this trend alive, a senior leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) Atul Anjan, has recently said that Sunny Leone’s condom advertisements will lead to a rise in the number of rapes in India.
“Sunny Leone naam ki ek aurat hai. Duniya ki sabse nangi filmon ki woh heroine rahi hai (There is a woman called Sunny Leone. She has been the heroine in nude films),” said Anjan, as he began his rant against the actress.
Anjan is the national secretary of the CPI and he made these comments at a public rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on Tuesday.
Anjan then referred to a condom ad which featured Sunny Leone and said, “Agar condom ke is tarah ke prachaar desh ke television aur akhbaaron mein chale, toh rape ki ghatnaaein badhengi (If such condom ads are shown on the country’s television sets and in newspapers, then the number of rape incidents will increase).”
The CPI leader did not stop there. He also said that the condom ad “developed sexuality.”, as if that is a sin. Ironically, Anjan added that an ad which encourages people to practise safe sex “destroys your sensibility”.
Anjan also said that he had never watched a single porn film in his life. But when he did watch porn for the first time, “do minute dekhne ke baad ulti hoti hai (After watching two minutes, I feel like vomiting).”
